The “Friends Bookstore” has been recently changed to “Nancy’s Bookstore” to honor Nancy Pierson Corkery for the countless hours of support, broad insight and vision for growth that she provided as a “Friend” of the Middletown Library.
The recurrent successes of the annual book sales, encouraged “Friends” Past President, Virgel Blaschke, in May 2008, to transform a corner of the Middletown Library’s lobby into a cozy little bookstore. This cozy little bookstore, presently known as “Nancy’s Bookstore” is still in operation today. Although we continue to hold scheduled book sales and silent auctions throughout the year, our little bookstore, funded by donations, and staffed by volunteers has been quite successful in providing financial support for the programs and instructional classes offered by the library.
Volunteers are always needed to staff the bookstore. A minimum commitment of one, two-hour shift per month is required. Morning, afternoon, and evening shifts are available. You may volunteer alone or with a friend. Ages 18 and up are preferred. If interested, please email Evelyn Cherpak, firstname.lastname@example.org
Please Note: We greatly appreciate your donations, however, we ask that all books are in good, clean, readable condition. Donations will be accepted at the circulation desk, during normal library hours. All donations will be reviewed by a library staff member before being shelved in “Nancy’s Bookstore.” Unfortunately, we are unable to accept magazines, encyclopedia sets, or outdated textbooks at this time. For larger collections please email Lois Murray, email@example.com.
