AARP to offer Tax Assistance with filing your 2021 Taxes at the Middletown Library

Due to the ongoing COVID pandemic, this service will be offered with several safety measures in place.

• Vaccinations will be required
• Wearing of facemasks will be mandatory
• Clients with any COVID symptoms on the day of appointment will be required to reschedule.

AARP Tax-Aide intake signup book located in the lobby of the Library Entrance

AARP Tax-Aide will offer free tax return preparation assistance to taxpayers at Middletown Library. The Middletown Public Library will begin opening for tax preparation assistance on Monday, February 14, 2022, ending on Monday, April 11, 2022. The last day for appointments will be Saturday, April 9, 2022. Appointments may be scheduled up to 2 weeks in advance. Service will be by appointment only, with drop-off of documents during a brief intake interview. Intake interviews will take approximately 15 minutes.

Please sign up in the intake signup book located in the lobby of the Library entrance. After signing up, take a document package. These document packages contain a questionnaire that should be filled out as much as possible before your intake interview. Also included is a list of tax documents that you should bring to intake appointment.

The initial intake appointment between clients and AARP volunteers will be limited to a short interview for drop-off of pre-completed forms and tax documents. Safeguards will be in place to ensure security of client’s documents. Tax return preparers may later contact clients by phone and/or email to get clarification or obtain missing documents. Clients will be notified when their returns are completed and given a pickup time appointment day/time.

Mondays : 12:00pm – 3:30pm

Wednesdays 3:00pm – 6:30pm

Saturdays 10:15am – 1:45pm
