1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

100 Books Before KindergartenHow It Works:

The Middletown Public Library offers the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program. The program is self paced and can start when the child is a newborn.

  • Children ages Birth-5 are eligible to participate

  • Each time you read a book together with your child, color in a circle on the paper reading log.

  • For every 100 books logged on the paper log, visit us to receive a reward and a sticker! We are looking forward to hearing about your favorite books, and celebrating your reading success!

Does reading the same book over and over count?

Absolutely! Children love (and learn through) repetition.  If you read the same book 3 times, record it 3 times.

What books can I read?

Any books you want to read.  You can read books from home, the library, anything! The staff is also here to help you find books that you and your child will enjoy!

Did you know?

Reading to your child at a young age improves language and literacy skills. It also encourages one to become a life long reader.
